Desires We know As LIFE

My thoughts…

I was thinking about us… humanity… God’s chosen creation… And how He created us in His own image (Genesis 1:27).  How that image is to reflect God… I then thought of what we all desire as humanity.

We all desire hope… joy… peace… grace… what is faithful… righteousness… morality… justice… love… acceptance… courage… humility… self-control… purpose… security… and eternal life in Heaven.

And it is clear when we read God’s word… these desires have not only been put in us by God our Creator but can only be had, satisfied and answered and given by God our Creator.

But by denying God in our daily life, we deny and deprive ourselves of what we desire most (what we somehow know as “Life”).  And nowhere else to turn we turn to the substitutes of the world that fail, never satisfy and destroy our soul.

When we deny God we reflect the fallen and hungry world BUT when we take hold of God’s hand like a little child- LIFE comes…  For we were made by Jesus Christ.

“He was with God in the beginning.  Through Him all things were made and without Him nothing was made that has been made.  In Him was life, and that life was the light of men…” John 1:3

(Take your hands and lock your fingers together.  One of your hands illustrates your soul and the other illustrates God who is Life.)  God created our soul to yoke “perfectly” with His Spirit just like our hands fit together perfectly. Note: Matthew 11:30

Several verses in the bible say, “Clothe yourself with Jesus Christ.” This would also illustrate how the Spirit of God perfectly fits our soul.

Allowing our soul to be yoked, calibrated, receptive, obedient, abided in the Spirit of God manifests His good, perfect satisfying will in our life (Romans‬ ‭12:2‬)‬‬ and produce what is says below.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no Law.”  Galatians 5:22-23

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” John 3:5

The Spirit alone gives eternal life.  Human effort accomplishes nothing.  And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” John 6:63   Note: Galatians 3:3

Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life... (John 14:6) It makes perfect sense then if He created us then He is the source of what we desire to fulfill and define as LIFE.  But in order to experience and have what our soul desires, we have to come to Jesus the source of LIFE.  We have to surrender our life to Him and make Him Lord and Savior over our soul. He is the only way we will ever experience LIFE and LIGHT for our soul on a daily basis.

“For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled it with what is good.” Psalm 107:9

Come and experience the way, the truth and the life in your soul!

Prayer:
Lord Jesus I know by the way I have been living I have not only failed to experience LIFE in you but have looked to other things to try to satisfy my soul and in doing so have sinned against you - for I have looked upon them as if they were gods.  Forgive me.
In my faulty human understanding I have also sinned against you and others as well.  In this I ask humbly for your forgiveness.  I have heard that you created me and my rightful place is with you.  You are the LIFE and LIGHT in which I have sought for so long.  Jesus I surrender my life to you.  Be my LORD and Savior and fill me with your glorious Spirit that I may not strive in the ways and understandings of men but in your perfect will for my life.
Thank you Jesus for laying down your life for mine that I may have life and life more abundantly in you.   Help me to know you and grow in you according to your word.  Help me find a spirit filled bible believing church that I can grow and be part of.  Help me as I read your word to understand it and have it enrich my soul as you guide me in reading it.  Enrich the soil of my soul that the roots of my faith will grow deep in your love.  In the measure of faith you have given me- I pray this in your wonderful name- In Jesus name Amen.

*May the Spirit of God be poured out upon you according to your honest words of faith in Jesus Name, Amen.

Something NEW

In learning to drive a stick shift, there can be a lot of jerking and grinding.  It can be pretty frustrating...  Maybe learning to drive a stick shift was at first a frustrating process … because we presumed it would be easier or maybe because we are.... perfectionists.... but how can learning to drive a stick shift pertain to daily life and how we look at life?

If we don't look to God first thing in the morning... our morning can start off jerking and grinding...   and we might not even get out of park or even first gear.  Forget coffee... without God you might as well had stayed in bed because coffee doesn't restrain what comes out of your mouth.

Some people wake up and turn on the radio or television filling their heads with garbage first... how do you think that effects your thoughts?

And they wonder why they feel so negative about life.... without God -looking at the world our righteous anger might turn to hate, revenge, slander, bias, cursing, and violence.  God says to be angry but do not sin.  Looking at the world our feelings of oppression might turn to depression, hopelessness, self-pity, and loss of self worth.
Even our uncanny trait to presume something of the day can hinder us like a curse.  Have you ever heard someone say, “I dread Mondays”?  Why do they dread Mondays?  Are they looking only to their own understanding?  Where is their mindset?   Presumption is assumption by us not God and certainly not God living through us?  Might as well put blinders on and not even consider what God has for you on Mondays.

We live in a world where there is little or no certainty.  The only certainty people have is in God but what certainty do you have if you don’t have God?  Where are your hopes and dreams if you don’t have God? Can you make a positive difference if you don’t have your eyes on God?
The world jerks and grinds enough but our soul doesn’t need to jerk and grind with it.

God’s word says…
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and prefect will.” Romans 12:2

We might live in this disturbing world and clamors for our attention but we need to have a spiritual disconnect from the world because if we are Christian then our real life is hidden in Christ.

“For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3

Stability doesn’t come from the world but God.  Why do you think the founding fathers of the United States based our country on the principles of God? They knew God gave them stability even in uncertain times.

We can see and hear and experience the murders and the injustices to Jews and Christians around the world but for us to function, as God wants us to we must keep our hearts in Godly perspective where God is to sit on the throne of our hearts.  Time is growing short for Satan so he is pulling out all he can to corrupt the world and turn against God’s own… to steal our rights- forget the constitution, kill the innocent and destroy what is right.  But for those saved in Jesus name… we have already WON.  And we must stand in our position Jesus Christ has WON for us.

Jesus said…
"I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”  John 10:9-10

God says, “For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.” Jeremiah 3:25

David says, “He refreshes my soul.  He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.Psalm 23:3

God says, “Those who hope in me will not be disappointed. Reference: Isaiah 49:23

We have WON in our INFINITE GOD.

God being Infinite is about making things new in our life.  He isn’t stuck in thoughts of yesterday.  His mind isn’t seasoned by days of the past.  Nothing is routine or mundane with God.  He isn’t even surprised by the happenings of the day.  In our living, active, all knowing God we are not to go around and around- like some religious merry-go-round or listening to the enticing forked tongue earworm that works hard at trying to taint our thoughts.

We are striving to be and do what God wants us to be and do.   Seek He who is infinite, abide in He who is infinite and FIND.   Find the CHANGE of our lookout and in the CHANGE we CAN touch those around us.

The word says the uncompromising, the righteous are as bold as lions. [Reference: Proverbs 28:1] So do we believe it?

God who makes a NEW DAY also makes us NEW… changing us from glory from glory. He does not save us and leave us but has given us Himself that we might turn away from the old and be renewed and empowered!

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

He isn’t about religion but a faith that is living in the here and now.   He is about speaking to the here and now.  He is about making things fresh in the here and now.  He is the FIRE to makes the lasting flame not some flame that goes dim in the night!

Example: If a church stays in the past, it is the same as a mind that stays in the past- it isn’t living in the Spirit and truth for the Spirit makes the truth come ALIVE! The truth of word of God will always remain but the Spirit causes the truth to LIVE in US!

ALIVE IS CHANGE… it isn’t a stagnate pond that collects blood sucking mosquitoes.  It is a river that supports life and brings life.

Our Infinite God is about NEW.
“For I am about to do something new.  See, I have already begun!! Do you not see it?  I will make a pathway through the wilderness.  I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19

No one wants to live in the dry wasteland of ourselves, looking for something to satisfy our souls… no one want to live off the scraps of this world that acts like a bunch of vultures huddled around some smelly decomposing road kill.  Nor can anyone live off yesterday.  No one in their right mind says, “let’s eat that yesterday’s manna that now has maggots gathered on it.”  Does a fresh mountain stream come back the same way it came?   No! Only the decaying and dying do that.  God’s rivers bring refreshing, nourishment and LIFE! Forests and green pastures…

When we don’t seek God we end up flapping our wings wildly trying to get somewhere like a mad bee trapped in a clear vase.  We think we see clearly but we are stuck behind glass of our own understanding only wasting time and energy.  God says seek me and I will make you soar!

“Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.” Isaiah 40:30-31

There is only ONE remedy to all this…. there is only ONE remedy to see and experience and live all the plans and possibilities God has in store for each one of us.  There is only ONE remedy that will make us prosperous and will be feed, sustained and cause our souls to flourish.

"Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers; if you obey the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.” Deuteronomy 30:9

Living, heart and soul, in God’s Spirit is our remedy to living life FRESH and NEW.

Here are some notes I have jotted down in my quiet time with the LORD.  Some these things say the same thing but that isn’t bad… sometimes it helps us think of the same content in a different manner.

-Ask God to refresh your soul and mind daily. Cleanse you the grit and dirt of yesterday and the past.
-Submit to God in living in Spirit and truth.
-Let God give you the spirit you need for the task- Any task.
-Be Spirit guided not flesh guided.
-Go at the speed of the Spirit not the speed of your want or presumption.
-Do not try to predict or control.
-Know God will provide in what you need and in your call.
-Know there are eternal ramifications in your actions.
-Be in one accord in Spirit for a task to be accomplished successfully.
-Know God wants do something new everyday of your life.
-Know God wants us to come to the knowledge of the truth and live in the knowledge of the truth as Christ is our mediator, teacher and guide.
-Liberty comes with us letting go and letting God do through us.

Did you notice all these things speak of God doing something new in our life?
God is not about putting you in park.  God is not about you grinding and jerking your way through life.  God is not about putting you in first gear where you hold up a line of traffic behind you for miles.  God is about letting you find the hope, peace, joy, love and wisdom of driving with Him- where the drive is refreshing and new and encouraging.

God we ask that you refresh our souls… guide and direct our lives, empower us to see life not through our own limited understanding but through your enriching infinite Spirit that causes us live this life you have promised in abundance and boldly in you.  In Jesus name Amen.

KNOW GOD is INFINITE

-->
On the way home, driving in the evening sun, I flipped on the radio to hear a pastor speaking… but what he was speaking made the Spirit rise up inside of me.   He was speaking that manifestations in the book of Acts don’t happen anymore.   I should have just turned the radio off but I thought what if people who were listening didn’t know those manifestations, that he openly denies, do still happen today.  God is not a god of religion and dry bones but a GOD of faith, who makes those dry bones come ALIVE.
He is God who puts muscle and flesh over those bones and gives us a new heart and Spirit.  He is one who feeds us, encourages us, establishes us and empowers us.
How could he, a pastor… a man of God, not experience the manifestations of the Holy Spirit?  One might ask, “Does he really know God or has he just accepted an aspect of God?
Knowing he doesn’t believe in the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, who then leads him in what to preach to his congregation?  Is it by his mere thinking, wisdom and reasoning?
But He (Jesus) answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted.  Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” Matthew 15:13
Seminary taught or not… Who is to be our TEACHER?  God is to be our teacher who knows what HIS children need to hear and see.
“For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power.”      1 Corinthians 4:20
For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you. 1 Thessalonians 1:5
Is it not God who removes the veil? Is it not God is who infinite?
I do wonder how a person can speak of God’s life changing power and then flat out deny the gifts and manifestation of God’s presence.  Does that not seem strange?  Are we not a manifestation of His transforming love?
I am sure everyone has an aspect of ignorance when it comes to God but I am thankful God helps us overcome that ignorance as we allow Him to reveal the wonderful things of Himself.
We must not deny something in the bible just because we have never experienced it or told by mere men it doesn’t exist anymore?
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. James 1:5-8
We know the Old Testament is the New Testament revealed.   And is God not the same God as in the Old Testament?   So why would God change from what we see in the New Testament to now?
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”   Hebrews 13:8
God is same yesterday and today and forever… He is infinite.  He is unorthodox- granted but this doesn’t mean He doesn’t bestow the gifts of the Spirit and manifest Himself anymore….  God is ALIVE not dead!  And He does not conform to the ideals of men, no matter what their title may have.
“Great is our Lord, and mighty in power, His understanding is infinite.” Psalm 147:5
“God is not a man, so he does not lie.  He is not human, so he does not change his mind.  Has he ever spoken and failed to act?  Has He ever promised and not carried it through?” Numbers 23:19
Can you think of what God knows?  Here is just a tiny list.
He knows our hearts.
“But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve."  Jeremiah 17:10
He knows every detail of our bodies.
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.  And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31
He knows how long we will live here on this earth.
“You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer.” Job 14:5
He knows when we are tried, tested and tempted.  He knows when we turn our back on Him.
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat.  But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail.  So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers.” Luke 22:31-32
He knows when we will fail.
But Jesus said, "Peter, let me tell you something. Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me." Luke 22:34
He knows where every resource is to help His people.
“However, we don't want to offend them, so go down to the lake and throw in a line. Open the mouth of the first fish you catch, and you will find a large silver coin. Take it and pay the tax for both of us." Matthew 17:27
He knows where we are and where we will be.
“Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.”  And the Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying, and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight.” Acts 9:10-12
UNDERSTANDING
And how often does God tell us and show us in various ways to not depend on our own understanding?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6
“Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”                                                                    Romans 12:2
For the word of God will never fail. Luke 1:37
"I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27
“These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me
is based on merely human rules they have been taught.” Isaiah 29:13
Jesus looked at them intently and said, "Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible." Matthew 19:26
We are talking about our infinite God that is beyond the understanding and complacencies of men taught and untaught.
God touch those who teach such falsies and believe in such falsies.  If I were to share with these men right now, the miracles I have experienced they would call me a liar and yet call God a liar.
I have seen Jesus.  I have experienced the varied presences of God.  I have experienced things as the prophets of old.  I have experienced heaven.  I have spoke and sung in tongues.  I have heard and told people things that only God knew.  Things I without a doubt spoke because God’s Spirit assured them to me in my soul that they were true.  Strongly directed by God, I have prayed over the sick and they have been healed.  This is not to boost about me for I know one of reasons I have been shown these things is due to of my lack of faith and ignorance.   I have been doubting Thomas, questioning Philip, hypocrite Peter, and religious prideful Saul who became the Apostle Paul.  I speak my testimony.  I speak of these wonders of God to only speak the truth about GOD.  I feel if I don’t many will not know the wonders that are revealed through Christ Jesus.  They might feel God is unreachable and unknowable.  It is God not me who has done and shown me these things and he has no favorites.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was empty, a formless mass cloaked in darkness, And the Spirit of God was hovering over its surface.  Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.” Genesis 1:1-3
God had only to speak and the universe and the earth came into existence.   God had only to speak light over the earth and there was light.
And how we too were much like the earth.   How we were clothed and blinded in darkness until we surrendered to God and He breathed light into our life changing us from the inside out.  And He awoke us to the reality of Himself.  The same Holy Spirit that hovered over the earth testified mightily to our soul that Jesus is LORD over our soul.  How we need to remember that, how we need to remember our first love everyday of our lives.  How we need to remember our need for Him and how far He has brought us.
For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.   We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing great treasure.  This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”  2 Corinthians 4:6-7
"When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father--the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father--he will testify about me.” John 15:26
This same infinite Spirit, this Great Teacher, that people of this world aren’t even aware lives in us thanks to Christ Jesus.
“that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.” John 14:17
"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” John 16:13
When I think of God being infinite I think of this verse in Ephesians,
“Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.” Ephesians 3:8-9
Think about it… the boundless riches of Christ.
“KNOW GOD is LOVE.  KNOW GOD is Infinite,” flashed on the screen of my mind a few days back and now I am starting to understand why.
His infinite understanding is much higher then our ways and thoughts.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9
Where we might think appearance, human power, strength and some level of higher intelligence or education are necessary but God says, “No. It’s the heart and my Spirit that are important.”
Then he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts. Zachariah 4:6
Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
“God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.”  Matthew 5:8
“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” 1 Corinthians 1:27
Think of David, a young shepherd boy who is anointed as king of Israel.  Do you remember what happened after he was anointed as king?
“So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.” 1 Samuel 16:13
For David to be king of Israel he needed to be anointed by the Holy Spirit and David knew nothing else could sustain him to go into the role and do that role without the Holy Spirit in his life.
I love you, Lord, my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:1-2

“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.” Psalm 73:25
“Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.” Psalm 54:4
It is no different for us as Christians.  The Holy Spirit needs to be active in our lives to sustain us to walk out our faith.
“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9
No wonder why John reads,
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:1-5
Note: John is speaking of Jesus –the Word.
God is LIGHT.  Light that is never overcome by darkness.  Light that is infinite.  Light that wraps/clothes our eternal soul for eternity.
Why is it important to know God is infinite?
God wants us to rely and live in Him who infinite, so that we might live beyond our sometimes often burdening, shortsighted, limited understanding and circumstances.  God wants us to learn to continually abide in Him who gives us daily refreshment for our soul. Through Him come the companions of peace, joy, love, mercy grace, hope, and an empowering faith.
 for,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:16

Think to know Him and experience Him… is walk the road less traveled (mentally/ physically and of course spiritually).  It is to see life in a whole different way/light.   It is to have manifesting presence active in our life by looking and submitting to God who is INFINITE.
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20
Know God is Infinite.

Capricious

Three words awoke me a recent morning.  It was 4:24AM.  I wrote them down on the palm of my hand in the dark.  Capricious, Rebellious... and one other I couldn't read or remember so I have since given up on the third word.

Capricious isn't a word I use in either my verbal or written vocabulary.  Those who know me and have read this blog know this.

To be completely honestly, I didn't even know what capricious meant exactly until I looked it up.

I wasn't even sure if "capricious" was even in the bible but to my surprise it is.

"And I will make mere lads their princes, and capricious children will rule over them." ISAIAH 3:4

Children: The English translation is "children" but what does it say in the Hebrew?  This word "children" means servant or a young man or women in their twenties.  This is someone much older then a what we would think of as a child.  Then we must also think in terms of how God looks at human race...  we are but children to Him.

Capricious: So what does "capricious" mean when translated? One who acts childish...  one who is ill-tempered, unreasonably ill-tempered, presumptuous, arrogant, insulting in manners, insolent, rude, disrespectful, impertinent or improper as to question God, a grown-up or one with more experience.

Princes:  In the Hebrew the root word prince means: leader, commander (especially over soldiers, or a royal body guard, a cup bearer, of a city, a prison, or cattle.  They are representative leaders of the people.  And in the book of Daniel 10:13,20 ) the term is used a "princes of angels"- the archangels that interceding with God. Then I was reminded of a dream I was given that had "princes" in it.

When I referred to my notes, the dream was at the end January. In the dream, a friend (unknown to me as of right now) and I,  were given a large round box to deliver....  My friend and I went to deliver the box and when these group to earthly kings/princes came out and saw what we had to deliver they told tell us, "We don't want it because it is covenant."  So what were we to do... it was cold so we crossed the street with the unwanted box where it began to burn a fire inside of it...  Oddly stuck my hand into the box and did not get burned as a rummaged through it's contents.   Inside was a wood medallion as big as a dinner plate and underneath it some rings.  The rings don't seem to be anything of value to the human eye.  They look to be made of aluminum with strips of thin paper attached to on the top as if reminders.   At the bottom of the box was a cashiers check written to the United States of America but the amount of the check was left blank.  A blank check from God? And they didn't want it because they didn't want a covenant with God which meant they would have to obey the very statutes of God that bring life not destroy it.

These princes/kings looked at God's gifts as cheap and religious.  God was giving the princes and kings of the United States a blank check but they didn't want it... they would rather govern and dictate in capricious ways then submit and obey God.

The means of capriciousness.....

A capricious person is one who casts off restraint.
  • They do what is right in their own sight.
  • They do not seek godly truth, godly reason or godly direction.
  • They chase and follow and fall into every whim.
  • They stay away from, obscure and diffuse the light or what is right.
  • They are double minded and unstable... James 1:8  because their allegiance isn't solely on God.
"Arbitrary" is another close description of capricious.... which describes a course of action or a decision that is not based on reason or judgment but on personal will or discretion without regard to rules or standards.

I am reminded of our last ballot.... "Should those in government abide by the same laws as their they they govern?"

Is this type of capricious thinking preached and taught in television shows?  Revenge and lawlessness is okay as long as it gets what you want.  Sex is okay if it gets you what you want.  Lies are okay if it gets you what you want.  The list goes on and on.   It is without regard that all will have to stand before God.   Without saying it implements bad faith and erroneous thinking.   There is no godly logic or understanding.... and yet how many times have we seen this in history?  And how this has become the framework of oppressive rulers who do hideous things.   Think about when the anti-Christ comes to rule the world.  How difficult will it be for him to take reign when godly reason and logic are not even whispers in the streets?   And even though there is a God their minds and hearts will blind to Him like dark clouds that put a veil in front of the sun.

Are we not living more and more in a capricious society?

A society with complete disregard of the things of God.   A society that is estranged from God.  A society that believes "Whatever goes except God."  And it seems the more we try to better ourselves in our own understanding the more unrecognizable and undefined morality becomes.

Again... "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not depend on your own understanding." says the bible. Proverbs 3:5

It is as if everything on this world (that isn't anchored to God) is on a slippery slope and it has nothing to grab hold of to stop it from slippery further.  It is helpless to stop itself.

Is any government not submitted to God not becoming more indifferent, arbitrary and capricious?

Are they not deciding what is best based on their own reasoning and whims?

Yet why does God put such people over our lives?   Read Isaiah 3.  What will God take away from an unfaithful nation? Those with wisdom have been let go of... and in their place are put individuals who do not have the experience or know how.    People makes decisions based on what they think is right but they aren't anchored to God's statutes.

Now lets look the log in our eye?   Let us humble ourselves before God seeing our erroneous thinking and knowing God has no favorites.

Have churches in the past and are some churches today capricious in not abiding in what is written clearly in the bible?

Leaders! Ask yourself, are you estranging people from God and the things of God to make yourself comfortable and others comfortable?   Is your reasoning conducive to God or just to people?

I am reminded of Moses who chased of the shepherds away who wouldn't allow the woman to come and drink and water their animals at the well.  Is the bride of Christ not being allowed to drink from the well? Are they only given what you dictate?  If Moses only chased them away, what will Christ do to such shepherds when he comes?

Church, those who claim Jesus is Lord and Savior, examine if you have become capricious in anyway? Examine if you in your ideals of "comfort" have favored people over God? Examine if you have become ashamed of God in anyway? Is the bible true from cover to cover?

God is not capricious.... He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Clearly man left to only his own "tactic" is capricious.   A capricious man doesn't say, "Lord willing" but he goes right ahead and does it anyway suffering the consequences of his godless ways.

Faith..... is submission to God is it not?

For in the measure of faith given and grown and tended to by the Spirit of God- capriciousness is limited and put in restraint.  The lungs that breath such godly understanding do well and gracefully grow in the unlimited resources of God- not the limited understanding of man or the whims of the man.

When the Spirit is allowed freedom in one's life it becomes evident of the anchor one has in the love and wisdom of God.

Capriciousness is born and bred from our own selfish understanding which limits us.  For our own "fickle" understanding is like a barrier stopping us from entering the will of God.  For this we already know through experience but in capricious thinking we make a fatal error- thinking God is capricious as well in all he decides and orchestrates.

AND in capriciousness that is where the bad type of fear has it's place towards God.  Where can a man stand in his faith if God is capricious?  No where!  No man can stand on what is unsettle.  Praise God! He is called our ROCK!  He does not change.

God maybe unorthodox but he is not capricious in his ways and all he has set up from the beginning.

AND God hasn't given us the spirit of fear - but gives us the ability to have a sound mind.  For the Spirit goes to work taking the selfish rebellious sword in all it's capriciousness and turns it into a godly plowshare.  He, the Spirit, tills up the hard ground of erroneous capricious thinking so new godly growth can flourish in what was veiled before by our own selfish understanding.  For mere human might or power does nothing but by the Spirit of God accomplishes what God has purposed and ordained.

For who can find the well of life in the desert when one can only see sand?  And who can bring life to a desert?

Bias 1

We have all acted upon biases, seen biases and have even read about biases.  Biases are made by how we see the world and understand the world.  We are either for someone or something or against someone or something.  We often think about bias in terms of prejudice, favoritism, a preconceived notion or forgone conclusion.
Biases can be based on mere speculations and perceptions that “look” as fact but are not.
Biases built “on” facts help us rule out counterfeits, lies and deception meant to build up strongholds and arguments in our lives and other people’s lives.  As the saying goes, “Not everything or everyone is as they seem.”
I find biases can be emotional responses or feelings, which can be influenced by our own desires and temporary impulses.  They can be based on our selfishness and even fictitious imagines.
Biases can be dangerous and yet some are the most beneficial.

As I scrolled through pictures of abandoned places in this world I saw castles, mansions, cathedrals, libraries, subways, and even cities…

These were places where people once lived and worked but now, for one reason or another, they were left behind as useless.

I wondered how these places that seemed so beautiful, wise, beneficial and useful for a time came to be considered “nothing”.

I began to ponder the things people construct, study, work, and are educated to great degrees but how it benefits them nothing when they take their last breath.

Why stop there… look at the bodies in which we live in now… how we go to great efforts appease the mortal flesh but do little or nothing to secure the immortal soul within which will live on into eternity in either heaven or hell.

Is life really what we consider “life”?  I find this place and time in which we temporary exist is not really life but where we see if what we believe stands true or not in all the experiences and conditions we face in this place and time.  In other words, God allows us to see our ignorance of what we think “life” is about.
Think about it…. How can something that isn’t meant to last and is temporary be life?  If the tangibles are to temporary define us in this life what defines us when the tangibles are left behind?  What gives life to the soul?  What gives life to the soul when the tangibles are gone?  What gives reassuring hope to the soul? What gives peace to the soul?  What gives grace and mercy to the soul?  It certainly isn’t things or myself.

C.S. Lewis wrote: “If you think of this world as a place simply intended for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable: think of it as a place for training and correction and it's not so bad.”

This place and time is not so much about the tangibles but the finding and understanding the intangibles in God that are life but when we think about life only in the tangibles we are biased to life itself- who is GOD.
Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Johns 14:6
Where is life?
Jesus said “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10
Where is life?
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is very hard for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.  I’ll say it again—it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” Matthew 19:23-24

Where is life?

Jesus said “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?  Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?  Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.  And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?  So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God  above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:25-34

Where is life?

I am reminded of a lake.  It mirrors the day and night sky.  It shows the colors and moods of the mountain cradling it.   The lake like our existence is occasionally rippled.  It is ripped by mountain trout living underneath its surface and by the tiny bird taking a bath along its edge.  It is rippled by a tossed stone and the fallen branch.  It is dotted by cold raindrops and brushed by winds and even cools the occasional bear but after those things have gone… the surface returns to its glass like state.   The water “reacts” to what lives within it and what surrounds it.
How do we “react” to what lives within us and surrounds us?  Are we just a biased as that lake surface- are we at the mercy of whatever befalls us?
How IS the frailty of the human condition soothed? In what must a man be invested in intimately to focus and encourage and stabilize his soul?  I say this with knowledge of failure and success… God.
Any other source gives only headache, heartache, shame and hopefully some heavenly correction.
GOD by his loving grace and mercy should set the sails of our soul and be our course of daily influence.
HE alone needs to be our bias.  Honestly it takes some time to find our bearings…. but this might help.  I had a friend who was a marine.  One of the trainings was to fall backwards off a speeding boat where it was easy to temporary lose your equilibrium but he found if he just relaxed, his body would naturally float upward towards the surface of the water.   Spiritually it is the same with us.  If we just relax the Spirit of God living us will guide mentally in the right direction and lead us out of dark swirling circumstances around us.
GOD doesn’t want us to succumb to peer pressure or feelings or thoughts or circumstances but be succumbed in HIM.   GOD wants us to be biased to anything that wants to take HIS place in our mind and heart.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
People may know there is a GOD but the reason they don’t have peace and strength in GOD is because they don’t acknowledge HIM as GOD of their life. They make others and things gods of their life.   And the bible says when people don’t acknowledge GOD he abandons them to their foolish/biased thinking.
Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.   Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.  They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents.  They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.”  Romans 1:28-32
